Netflix has announced that they have bought the rights to stream last years blockbuster The Hunger Games. It will be available in the UK and Ireland from today (March 4th) and later in the month in the U.S. While Netflix will hold the rights for several months it is likely that other streaming services will eventually get the movie later on in the year.
The Hunger Games, based on the book by Suzanne Collins, has already been available on Netflix Brazil, Canada and Mexico for a while now, in fact it was available in Mexico before it has ended it’s cinema run in some countries.
Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix said
“We are thrilled to be the online home for The Hunger Games in the UK and Ireland,” and added, “Since launching in the UK and Ireland in January 2012, we have continued to expand our offering of great movies and TV programmes, and we think our members are going to love the latest addition to the service.”
