Netflix Inc. has said there will be no subsequent seasons of cult show “Arrested Development” after the fourth season is released in May. At an investor conference today, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that season four would be “a fantastic one off” and a “non-repeatable” event.” He also said “We don’t anticipate being able to do seasons five, six, seven. We have less of a stake in it,” and added “Arrested Development is a wildly successful tactic as opposed to fundamental to the strategy.”
A spokesperson for Netflix admitted to The Wall Street Journal that it would be “extremely difficult to get the cast together” for further episodes, since their schedules have increased greatly since the shows 2003 debut.
So does this mean it will be the last we see of the Bluth family…or maybe this will pave the way to a big screen version? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
